Experience a 6-day French immersion program blending French classes in a small group and exclusive excursions in Southwest France
Step back in time during your six-day stay at the magnificent Château Les Estournels, originally built in 1776. You’ll find the décor thoughtfully blends the castle’s authentic historic character with the comforts and tasteful style of today.
Perfectly situated between the vibrant cities of Toulouse and Bordeaux, the château is your gateway to exploring the captivating Quercy region. Discover the unspoiled, wild valleys of the Lot and Dordogne rivers, and wander through gentle, rolling hills dotted with picturesque vineyards.
Throughout the week, to ensure a truly immersive environment, we maintain a ‘French-only’ guideline within the residence. From morning coffee through to evening aperitifs, communication will be exclusively in French. This approach is highly effective for rapidly improving conversational fluency and confidence in a supportive setting.
Our French immersion program focuses on three key areas, namely language improvement, connection and cultural discovery:
1 • Our primary goal is to significantly improve your comprehension and spoken French within a relaxed, practical context. Activities are designed for natural conversation, such as discussions during group meals, informal French sessions accompanied by local wine, informal cooking classes, scenic regional hikes, or curated tastings.
2 • Moreover, this week offers a valuable opportunity to connect with a diverse group, including expats residing in France and international participants, fostering enriching exchanges.
3 • Finally, we aim to provide an authentic immersion into French culture. This will involve guided excursions through the local market of Cahors, introductions to local producers like cheesemakers and truffle farmers, and exploring the charming village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, one of France’s most beautiful villages.
Your journey begins on day one with a seamless transfer from Toulouse airport or the nearest train station. Arriving at the chateau, you’ll be welcomed by Tanguy with a chilled glass of rosé, red, or white, alongside some delightful snacks to help you unwind after your journey. Settle into your room, and then we’ll gather for a relaxed welcome lunch – a chance to ease into the week ahead. Our daily three-hour French session, held in a small group, will be a comfortable space to introduce ourselves and get a taste of what the coming days hold.
We’re starting the day right with a classic French breakfast. After fueling up, we’ll make our way to Cahors and dive into its lively market. It’s a fantastic spot for the eyes and palate, where we’ll select the freshest regional treasures. Then, we’ll transform our market finds into a delicious regional lunch during a relaxed and engaging French cooking class, conducted entirely in French! Our afternoon is dedicated to diving into French with our three-hour lesson.
After a delicious breakfast, prepare for an exclusive insight into the art of winemaking at Domaine de Cauquelle Vigneron Flaugnac. Our partner will guide us through their process, offering a firsthand learning experience. The afternoon includes a three-hour French class. Afterward, you can unwind with a refreshing dip in the pool, enjoy a leisurely coffee and chat with other guests. To wrap up the day, we’ll enjoy a fantastic barbecue with some excellent local wines. And for anyone interested, we can even organize a casual pétanque game.
Another delightful day begins with a delicious breakfast, setting the stage for an engaging three-hour French class. By lunchtime, you’ll have already immersed yourself in the language! The afternoon offers a tranquil interlude – perhaps a refreshing dip in the pool, a leisurely exploration of the chateau grounds, or a convivial coffee with guests. As evening approaches, we’ll indulge in the authentic flavors of the region at a charming local restaurant.
Prepare to be captivated by Saint-Cirq-Lapopie! Our day trip includes a delicious lunch at a classic French establishment, followed by a full afternoon to wander and discover the unique charm that makes this village so special.
Our lovely week here is wrapping up. Let’s take a deep breath of this fresh air and appreciate it one last time. We’ll have some breakfast together before we say goodbye for now.

I’m Tanguy, a native French teacher and your local French guide.
My roots are near Paris, but my childhood was a fantastic tour of France, living in more than twelve different cities. After that, I spent eight wonderful years in Birmingham, UK, and Budapest, Hungary, before my love for France drew me back home a few months ago. I’m truly passionate about this country – its fascinating history, amazing food scene, and the sheer variety of its landscapes.
Teaching French is something I love. I’ve taught grammar and translation at the University of Birmingham, UK and now work with American CEOs, international clients and expats in France and globally. My background in linguistics and phonetics gives me a real insight into how the language works, which means I offer a really clear and effective way to learn. And since I speak fluent English, I understand exactly where English speakers can get tripped up.
As an American expat living in Paris, I’ve always felt a little self-conscious about my limited French. While I can navigate the basics of daily life, I truly wanted to immerse myself in the language and culture. That’s why I decided to enroll in Tanguy’s intensive French course. Tanguy is a fantastic instructor. His enthusiasm for the language was contagious, and he made even the most complex grammar points clear and understandable. I highly recommend his intensive course to anyone looking to learn French in a beautiful and immersive environment.
Living in Paris as a Brazilian, I wanted to go beyond basic French communication. The course was perfect, focusing heavily on practical skills for everyday situations. Plus, the cultural context incorporated into the lessons helped me understand the French and Paris much better.
Having recently moved to Paris with just some rusty high school French, I enrolled in Tanguy’s course. I was impressed by how quickly I progressed in understanding and speaking French for everyday situations. Tanguy’s classes were well-structured, focusing on practical vocabulary and grammar relevant to navigating Parisian life. A highlight for me was the emphasis on authentic French speech patterns, contrasting textbook language with how Parisians actually communicate, making comprehension and interaction much more natural and useful.
